This story is based on childhood memories about a Banshee in Ireland. As repressed memories surfaced, the story evolves into the true story about six-year-old Paddy and his life in New York City and Kilkenny, Ireland in the 1960s and how he learned that Banshees are real while also managing to survive a broken home and a variety of other early-life challenges.
Dr Nicholas Blake might still be afraid of the dark but the monsters his grandmother tormented him with as a child aren’t real. Or so he thought! The sea freezes, the country grinds to a halt under the snow, and he finds a half-dead man bleeding out while a dead woman watches.
In a world reeling from a plague, monsters lurk in the streets while terrified survivors arm themselves and roam in packs. Spence is one of the "cured". Haunted by guilt, he refuses to face the changed world. But if he can't tell the truth from the lies, how will he know if he has earned the redemption he dreams of?
